Hi. Another question that we get frequently from our clients is what should I do if I’m in a car accident to best protect me and my family? And so what I’m gonna do today is I’m gonna give you some tips on what you should do at the scene of an accident.
The first thing I recommend is probably the most obvious, which is call 911 and wait for the police to arrive.
This is especially important if you may, or your loved one may be injured, and the reason you want to do that is.
The police officer will come to the scene and then a report will be generated that will document what happens, including what everybody at the scene has to say.
The second thing you should do is identify any witnesses.
Who may have seen what happened and get their contact information. The third thing I recommend is to take pictures of the location of the vehicles, the damage to the vehicles, and also any physical injuries that you may have, any cuts or bruises, things like that. You should also forth look to see if any video cameras in the area may have recorded what happened.

Nowadays, there are video cameras literally everywhere. And so if you do see a camera on a building, say pointing at the scene, you’re gonna want to follow up with those folks and see if they’ll share the video with you. So those are just a few of the things that I suggest you do at the scene. Of course talk to the police, tell them what happened.
And most importantly, be courteous to everybody. Make sure you check on everybody’s wellbeing as well.
And we also have a 10 point list that I’m happy to share with you of suggestions of things to do and not to do at the scene of the accident. So I hope you don’t have any accidents and I hope you stay safe out there.
Thanks and take care.
