Kelly E. Cook
Personal Injury Attorney
Kelly E. Cook is a founding partner of Wyly & Cook, PLLC. Kelly was born and raised in a small Appalachian town in West Virginia. As the son of a police officer, he was always interested in the law and the justice system. After graduating from Greenbrier East High School, Kelly attended George Washington University where he graduated as an Honors Scholar with a B.A. cum laude in Classical Humanities. Kelly was also awarded the Elton Prize for the highest scholarship in Classical Greek and immediately enrolled in the George Washington University Law School.
After law school, Kelly Cook went to work for a large personal injury firm where he was able to try his first case just nine days after being sworn in. After representing individuals in auto crashes, slip and falls, and workers compensation cases in Maryland and Texas with other firms, Kelly started his own law practice in 2012.
Altogether, Kelly has tried over 35 cases to a verdict and argued before the Courts of Appeal in two states. A particular point of pride for Kelly is that he has been retained by multiple other personal injury attorneys to represent them.
Kelly Cook was recently nominated to membership of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges open to membership by invitation only. He was appointed by the State Bar President to serve on the Texas Disciplinary Rules Committee in 2014 and served until that body was dissolved. He maintains membership in the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, where he previously served on the Board of Directors and the Advocates Board of Directors and currently sits on the Amicus Committee. Kelly is a member of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, where he is a former Vice-President and currently sits on the Board of Directors. He served on the Board of Directors of the 7th Amendment PAC, supporting talented and credentialed candidates for the judiciary. He is a member of the American Association for Justice and a Member of the College of the State Bar of Texas.
Additionally, Kelly has been selected as a Super Lawyer since 2016 and was a Rising Star before that. He was selected by the National Association of Personal Injury Attorneys as a “Top Ten Attorney” for personal injury. He was also listed as one of the Top 40 under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers. He has a Superb 10/10 rating by AVVO.
When not working, Kelly enjoys traveling with his wife and cooking. For a good story, ask him about his time as a professional wrestler.
